Why start with Makspower?
Johan Fredrik is a family man who wants his family to be comfortable during the holidays. That's why, for many years, he has invested in good solutions for power capacity, fast charging, making sure the children have enough power for a PC, tablet, reading light, TV, stereo, espresso machine, ice cubes for drinks, blender for PinaColada and smoothies. Or blow dryers for mom and to heat water from the inverter for a comfortable shower.
That's exactly what we had in our previous boat, the First 456 named Sunday. 20 years ago, we experimented with dual alternators, adjustable regulators, large battery bank and everything mentioned above. The boats around us were pretty much dead in the water regarding power. We had plenty.
The first lithium battery
We tested a lithium battery of 100 Ah against our AGM bank of 660 ampere hours. All data was recorded and entered into a spreadsheet. We made graphs and compared the small lithium battery with the large AGM bank weighing more than 190 kilos. The results were unbelievable. After a few months of research, we finally found the factory that had produced the battery. We started working together and have continued to do so.
When we look back at thousands of batteries delivered and used in all sorts of applications from weather stations, cabins, handicap electric scooters, small and large boats, commercial boats and industry, after all these years we have about five batteries that have some kind of fault.
This is a testament to extremely good quality. The batteries are by no means the cheapest to buy, but clearly the best. That's your security as our customer.
We haven't fallen into the trap of buying cheap batteries. Our track record shows that we've chosen the right and super quality from day one.
Not just batteries, but alternators, solar panels, chargers and 230 volts on board. "It's great to have Makspower batteries that deliver the goods. Fast charging is just as important. That's why we also have sensible solutions for upgrading alternators for a range of Volvo and Yanmar engines.
Technical support and installation
We have no special opening hours. We know it's important to provide assistance if something doesn't work in a boat. Often it's just a minor issue that needs to be fixed to get the power situation going again. If we have the opportunity to respond, we do so. It has benefited many families when we give a few tips and get everything working.
In eastern Norway, we work with experienced installers who take on everything from simple tasks to the most complicated in commercial boats. No boat is too small or too big, practically speaking.
Trends in the market
We are noticing new trends. Mom has a lot to say when it comes to boating, investments in the boat and the comfort of the vacation. Dad is out looking for good power solutions. Mum and kids need to be happy on the water to be able to join us next year too. Once dad has found the solution, it very often has to be approved by the female finance minister. We've met customer boats full of parents, children, in-laws and guests, after days in pouring rain.
Mom has discovered that they are on the outside of the Makspower boat. Then she came over and thanked us for the batteries. Without the Makspower batteries, we would not have survived and had a good time. Thank you for the batteries.
Another trend we're noticing:
Brand new boats costing millions of kroner come with all kinds of electrical equipment. Indoor and outdoor chartplotters, autopilot, heater, freezer, fridge, induction hob, electric winches and a bit of everything else. But it's not possible to order the boat with a proper power system from the factory, unless you want to pay kr. 150.000,- and run the agitator around the clock. Who wants to do that?
Many of our customers have bought new boats, taken their families on trips and run out of power in less than 24 hours. This is not what they dreamed of. At a very modest price in relation to the price of the boat, new or used, we have created predictable solutions for enough power. It's probably the best investment you can make for the best possible vacation for the whole family.
Warehouse and delivery
We have a warehouse in Sandvika and ship all over the country. You can pick up by appointment during working hours and often in the evening and on weekends.
In our demo boat at Blommenholm, we can show you how it works in practice.
Makspower LiFePO4 Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries solve power problems
Why charge for hours on end, worry about power consumption and not be able to lower your shoulders on vacation? Why lug around lead-acid batteries that take up a lot of space in a tour boat, regatta boat, motorhome, RIB, motorboat, ambulance, rescue vehicle or lifeboat?
Is it necessary to be the first to run ashore with the sea cable and grab a spot in a power outlet almost before you've moored?
Am I charging so much with LiFePO4 batteries that I grill the alternator?
This is easy to solve. Our knowledge consists of our own experiences from boating over many years, trial and error, collaboration with experts, pundits, customer experiences and others who have something to contribute. The experience base is large. It is quite likely that we have fitted LiFePO4 batteries and regulators to the equipment you have in your boat.
Do you have a Volvo or Yanmar engine with a 115 A alternator, Hitachi 80 A alternator or another alternator?
Wondering how much your boat can charge? What kind of charge controller do I need? Can I install another alternator? Is it not getting hot? Get in touch with us.
Our main product is LiFePO4 Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries with solutions for power. This battery technology opens up unprecedented opportunities for power and comfort on board a boat, in a motorhome or in a cabin with solar cells. Previously, LiFePO4 batteries have been very expensive. Now we present the batteries at prices that compete with AGM and GEL batteries and with performances that make technical knockout on AGM and GEL batteries.
Can I use the equipment I have, or do I need to replace the charger, regulator and alternator?
Makspower has delivered LiFpeo4 batteries to a number of boats and sees what works. We can tell you what will be the best solution with the equipment you already have and what we recommend in terms of changes to get the best out of it. Read the feedback under "references", contact us or talk directly to our customers.

Documented solutions for more power in your boat
We can present documentable solutions on how to get more power in your boat. We don't get bogged down in details, but choose to go straight to the changes that can be made to get maximum power in your boat and all the comfort it can offer.
How much more power will I get in the boat if I make changes?
A lot is written about electricity in boats and there are many opinions. Rarely can it be documented what is a real before and after situation when we make changes such as buying an extra battery, buying a new battery bank, changing the charge controller, installing an extra alternator or anything else that affects charging, battery capacity and access to power.
In our test boat Sunday we charge with up to 280 Ampere. We can show you how to recharge your daily consumption in 40 minutes. We charge at around 200 Amps on average. Anyone better? [ChargLiFePo4 cr]
Recharge your daily consumption in a minimum of time, on your way out of the harbor, on your way into port after a nice sail or in a short time when you are out in the reefs.
With good solutions for your boat's power supply, you can look forward to boating in greater comfort and a holiday feeling that reaches new heights.
Serve your loved one a Nespresso when she least expects it. Surprise her with a proper Smoothie Pinacolada from the boat's own bar, followed by this summer's Frosty Strawberry Daiquiri. Vacuum the boat when the crew is out shopping. Hang a blow dryer in the bathroom. Serve waffles at sea. Bring an ice cream maker and make the ship's sorbet.
Keep ice cubes in the cooler all summer long for a well-deserved treat when the boat is in port.
You might think you're draining your batteries with so much equipment on board?
We will document normal consumption. It's often less than you think.
From a smart boat owner who invested in a new inverter and Nespresso coffee machine:
The inverter financed itself during the summer. I served my wife Nespresso all the time and saved a number of visits to the café.
Follow the tips from Makspower and look forward to a boating season with endless possibilities.
