Makspower 100 Ah (Ampere hours) LiFePO4 Lithium Iron Phosphate battery outperforms AGM and GEL batteries on weight, capacity and lifetime.
AGM and GEL batteries with similar available capacity weigh approximately 64 kg, while Makspower LiFePO4 weighs only 12.9 kg.

Makspower LiFePO4 batteries are made up of cylindrical cells of the same design used in Tesla cars.
Cylindrical cells are the world's most widely produced cell type and have unrivaled cooling and cycling properties.
The cells are welded together for optimum strength and connection, unlike prismatic cells that are screwed together. Screwed connections may eventually become loose. Prismatic cells do not have the same cooling properties and may swell under load and heat generation. If a cylindrical cell loses its connection or becomes defective, you will hardly notice it. If a prismatic cell loosens its connection, the battery is finished.
Our factories supply both cylindrical and prismatic cells. We chose cylindrical as by far the best solution.

Over the course of five years, no batteries have failed due to faults or breaks in welding or cell failures.

For bow thrusters and engine starting, you use lead-acid batteries, which are significantly cheaper.

Makspower and batteries with Bluetooth:
We have 55 Ah, 100 Ah, 150 Ah and 200 Ah Makspower batteries with built-in Bluetooth and BMS at 150 amps in stock.

Built-in Bluetooth can be fine in some cases, but not much more. If you only need one battery, built-in Bluetooth and reading via an app on your phone will be fine. If you have or are considering more batteries in the long term, we recommend investing in a proper battery monitor with Bluetooth. This is a much better and significantly more accurate solution that covers the entire battery bank.

Charging Lithium Batteries

How do I charge Makspower LiFePO4 (Lithium Iron Phosphate) batteries? Litiu batteries from Makspower can be charged up to 14.6 volts. At 14.4 volts, which is the recommended maximum charging voltage, the battery is practically full. When the battery is full, the voltage should be reduced to float or maintenance voltage of 13.8 volts or lower. If the charger can be adjusted to 13.4 volts and still supply power for consumption, it is a good solution that ensures long battery life. Charging with solar cells Solar cells are a very good charging source for LiFePo4 batteries. Charging in the cold. LiFePO4 batteries should not be charged below zero degrees. The battery can be stored in the cold and charged in the cold. Storage in winter or long-term storage. What do I do with the batteries in my boat, motorhome or cabin in winter? Optimally, the batteries should be 70-80% full when stored over time. Ensure that the batteries are not drained during long-term storage either by making sure that all consumption is switched off. Does the alternator run hot with lithium batteries?

Does the alternator run hot with LiFePO4 batteries? This is a topical question. Makspower has supplied LiFePO4 batteries to more than 150 boats and a number of motorhomes. There have been no problems with broken alternators so far. With LiFePo4 Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries, the alternator will not necessarily charge more than it does when charging fresh AGM or GEL batteries. The charging current will remain at a high level until the batteries are practically full, as opposed to lead-based batteries where the charge decreases and the charging time becomes infinitely long. A good air supply and plenty of cooling in the engine compartment are essential.

Lithium in motorhomes

Motorhomes and weight issues: Many motorhomes have significant weight problems with a maximum weight of 3500 kg. Replace 200 AH AGM batteries with 100 AH Makspower batteries and reduce the weight by 50 kg. Or insert 2 x 100 AH Makspower LiFePO4 batteries and get twice as much power and still significantly reduced weight. Examples of weight reduction Several car owners have replaced 2 x 95 AH (ampere hours) AGM or GEL batteries. The weight of approx. 200 AH batteries made of lead is approx. 60 kg. Replace the lead batteries with 1 pcs. Makspower 100 AH LiFePo4 battery, the weight is reduced from 60 kg to less than 14 kg in half the space. In addition, you get lightning-fast charging and more available power. Experience from motorhome owners The current capacity increased and the charging time became significantly shorter. The charging current from the solar cells increased significantly and the charging time decreased due to the Makspower battery's very low internal resistance. Out with the unit, even more kilos saved: More car owners are seeing their batteries being charged at lightning speed while driving. Solar cells charge LiFePo4 batteries efficiently. This often eliminates the need for a generator. In many cases, they leave the generator behind, saving additional weight and space.

How quickly is it possible to charge a Makspower Lithium battery?

Charging Makspower 100 Ah LiFePo4 battery with Victron Multiplus 12/3000/120 combined charger and inverter. The Multiplus was downgraded to deliver 90 amps to correspond to an alternator of approx. 100 amps like Volvo's 115 a Mitsubishi alternator. It is common on most of Volvo's D engines. The battery was charged with approx. 8 amps and delivered a total of 102 ampere hours AH (of the stated 100 ampere hours). We then charged to full battery. In the first hour, the Multiplus delivered an average of 89 amps, and after 74 minutes the battery was full. In other words, charging the Makspower battery is very quick if you have sufficient charging capacity.
